Call me a grumpy old man but every single so called “economist” on the tv and in the newspapers are completely wrong about everything. When your conclusions are built upon lies the end result is bullshit!
Firstly the inflation numbers they always quote are absolute rubbish, they are lies, smoke and mirrors.
The real inflation rate is always much higher, luckily the brilliant “Shadowstats” have crunched the numbers for us;
Currently the government says US inflation is at 4.1%, the true number is around 12%

Whenever the GDP growth is quoted it is adjusted for inflation so this number is a huge lie as well. Currently they are telling us the US is growing at 5.9%. The true number is around minus 2%.
The US is currently in a massive recession, growth is an illusion. The truth is that the US is in the biggest and longest ever depression since records began! The “New Great Depression” has already been happening for over 20 years.
I have the great Jim Rickards to thank for that quote, he is one of very few economists that are worth listening to. For example his analysis on digital currencies is second to none.

The only other economist worth listening to is Bill Bonner. He writes brilliantly 5 days a week, free on substack and I have read every (free) word he has written since 2005!
I know, I should get out more!
The entire topic of economics should be entirely re-written. The history of the subject field is something to study. I have a long history of running through many books on the subject. There is a pervasive mentality in the subject field that I would not touch. I actually studied it, in the eighties. I got through two courses, micro-economics and development economics. I got a 'D' and a 'C' and dropped it. Then later, I got some original ideas. But, as far as your general take on the subject field: Yes, I do agree! There are few well-informed books. Most people have drunk the Kool-Aid to some degree. Still, it is a fascinating discipline to me and I always find new stuff. You can try to follow my posts on this matter. I don't tell you it is easy!
